The European launch of the Playstation 3 has started to be quite comical. First of all, they stated that ‘Europeans don’t mind waiting for the PS3‘ – which resulted in a March 2007 release instead of a 2006 release. Secondly they have jacked up the price which makes a PS3 much more expensive over here than in the US and Asia. And now they have gimped the damn thing too…:

“Software will take over some of the functionality that was originally taken care of by dedicated chips, which means far fewer PlayStation 2 (PS2) games can be played on a European PS3 compared with the Japanese and American PS3 models which play 98 percent of old games”

This basically mean that we Europeans can forget about playing PS2 on the PS3.

Come on Sony, you can do better than this!
