Apple Store was closed for a while today and they lowered the price of the iPod Shuffle 1GB to $49 and introduced a whole new 2GB version for $69. The old price for the Shuffle 1GB was $79 so it’s a pretty radical new price. Great.

Today Amazon unveiled the very exciting new product that has been given the name Kindle. It is a thin display with high resolution which is meant to be used to read books, blogs, newspapers and magazines. I think this one will be a big success (at least in the US) mainly because of two reasons. First of all it’s just because of the fact that it is Amazon who is launching the product. They have got power, influence and superior relationship with end customers and the big media companies.
The big news of the day is the iPod Touch which basically is an iPhone without the phone. It’s only 8 millimeters thin and features WiFi (yeah!), multi-touch user interface, 3.5 inch widescreen display, cover flow, Safari browser etc. Battery life is quite good too 22 hours of audio playback and 5 hours of video. It comes in two flavors 8GB ($299) and 16GB ($399). More information inside.
Even the ‘old’ iPod got a significant upgrade today. The new 6G version features a full metal design and is starting at 80GB ($249) and you can even get hold of a 160GB version ($349). The 160GB version features 40 hours of battery audio playback and 7 hours of video (yeah!). More information inside.
We got a lot of goodies from Apple today so let’s start sorting all the new models out. First out is the new iPod nano complete with a 320×240 screen and capable of doing everything the old 5.5G version could do – photos, videos, games etc. It’s in fact even better because it comes with a brand new GUI that only uses half the screen. It comes in a 4GB version ($149) and a 8GB version ($199). More information inside.
It was almost a year ago when I unboxed my iPod video 80 and if the rumours are true it looks like I’ll buying a new one tomorrow. According to ThinkSecret Apple will unveil a touch-screen 3.5 inch iPod – possibly with 120GB of storage. ThinkSecret even claim that they have leaked snaps from a video demonstrating the new GUI.

There’s always a lot of rumours before Apple’s special event, and tomorrows event is no exception. There’s a couple of trustworthy sources saying that the new iPods will be able to receive digital radio and buy tracks instantly (built-in wifi?). We’ll know for sure tomorrow.
The source said that the new iPods will be able to receive digital radio, and will include a ‘buy-now’ function to allow the user to download and buy tracks as they are being played.

Engadget has published a nice rumor-roundup: Apple rumor-roundup for September 5th event [Engadget]
The famous German company Sennheiser has been one of my favorite brands for headphones and earphones for the last ten years or so, so I’m always interested in their new announcements. I think they unveiled ten or so new products at this years IFA 2007 in Berlin and I’m not going to cover them all, but their new earphones look quite interesting (CXL 400, CXL 500, CX55 Street, CX95 Style) – but I haven’t seen any prices yet so my interest might change pretty quick!
If you are willing to spend more money on your earphones than on your portable music player, you might be interested in this new deluxe pieces from Klipsch. They are supposed to be the world’s smallest and lightest in-ear earphones on the market today. They will be available in November for $349.
