Digg vs Slashdot vs Fark

Slashdot vs Digg vs Fark.com/tech

Last Sunday I was lucky enough to have one of my posts up on the frontpages of Slashdot, digg and fark.com/tech at the same time. Here’s a short presentation of how much traffic the three sites distributed.

Here’s how the different sites looked like when my post Gadgets now and then – part 1 hit their frontpages:

And here’s the traffic distribution from the three different sites:

Black is Slashdot, Pink is digg and Blue is Fark

Traffic distribution

Slashdot: 53 517 visitors
Digg: 20 317 visitors
Fark/tech: 2 584 visitors

I was quite surprised that Fark only gave 2 584 visitors – when they didn’t have the tab design with different categories – Fark distributed way more traffic.

As you can see, Slashdot is a clear winner if we talk raw traffic distribution. A total of 53 517 visitors came from the Slashdot post, and that is nearly 3 times more than came from Digg.com – 20 317 visitors. Cheers.
