Griffin SmartShare – review

Griffin SmartShare

I have tested the new SmartShare from Griffin Technology. It’s a simple headphone splitter with the possibility to have individual volume settings.

Last winter me and my girlfriend was on a long flight between London and Los Angeles. I had brought my iPod loaded with my favorite music. I had bought a small headphone splitter that gave you the ability to plug in two headphones instead of just one. I didn’t bring two identical headphones, so the volume was radically different in our headphones and it wasn’t a good experience.

Even if I had brought two similar headphones I’d bet that there would be some discussions about the ‘right’ volume setting. And that’s why I was very happy when I heard about the Griffin SmartShare.

Inside the box

So what’s inside the box. Well, this time you won’t find anything but the Griffin SmartShare. And that’s completely alright, even though I expected to find something more than just the product.

But there’s no way you can use this product wrong so I guess there’s no need to enclose any instructions except what’s printed on the package.

It’s a really simple and smart product that gives you two headphone jacks with individual volume sliders. It works like a charm and it’s a truly great product. And that’s basically the only thing I have to say about this product. It delivers! The price is $14.95 and it’s available in black and white.

Verdict: 9 out of 10: Excellent buy!

If they would have included the possibility to completely mute the headphones I would have given it a straight 10. As it is now you can lower the volume significantly but you can’t get it completely silent.
