iPod 6th generation concept

Apple iPod Video 6th generation mockup

This is obviously just a concept of the 6th geneneration iPod made by md3d Studios, but it’s worth a look. They have also added some new features on the 6th generation wishlist; 960 x 760 screen resolution at millions of colors, content rotates upon rotating iPod HD, built-in microphone and wireless internet.

It’s too big! Make it half the size. Just a big screen and some smart navigation on the back of the player.

I agree with Rick, it’s too big..and isn’t it a bit too early to think about those things? i mean the iPod video wasn’t launched that long ago =\

I think this design is amazing. The screen is as big as the current video ipod. With a wifi feed, this would be sweet.

ok. firstees if you people would think off all the stupid fake models of the original 5th generation ipod you might realize that it will prolly be the same thing except with like internet connection so it can at least challenge the psp. secondly, i am totally happy with my 5th generation ipod and i see no need to make another

Concept wise, this is an agreeable next gen ipod. I love the 5G video ipod, so yes, larger screen is what I would want. Some music need the visual to make it complete. And comedy. You need those facial expressions and gestures to make it comedy, right?
However, larger screen/video format = more backlight consumption = bigger heavier battery. I don’t think all these factors are quite there yet to package the next gen ipod in the just right size/weight that makes an ipod an ipod. Also, larger file size to download. I haven’t heard of much hype to make broadband much faster than it is now. So, I don’t think full screen ipod will be well accepted by the market. Just like that overly ambitious final Clie model from SONY. ipod with Palm OS PDA functions. This is what I hope for as the next gen ipod.

A screen saver similar to the “light show” on itunes would be cool too… I mean hell, if we are going to use up all this battery power anyway we might as well get a good show out of it!

Dude, this ipod sux, no offence. It would bulge out when u try to put it inside your pocket. Also, the clickwheel looks soooo pathetic

Sure it looks cool, but this design is impossible. Plus, if it holds more songs, it’ll have a bigger battery, which will increase the weight.

Who the hell cares if it doesn’t fit right in your pocket. As long as it has a lot of memory, lots of battery and a big screen that’s all i want

Anybody know when the 6th generation is going to come out?

The concept is too big. They shoud keep the size of the 5th gen and eliminate the click wheel altogether enlarging the screen to fill the whole face. Then for navigation they shold have a touch sensitive interface built into the screen, possibly a digitized click wheel.

This design of the 6th generation ipod by now has basically faded out of the new ipod rumors. Basically the 7th generation ipod has become the 6th generation ipod and the ipod touch is now expected to be the next ipod. Also i here ppl talking about how this designs click wheel is to laterally stretched but actually if you have seen the sketches that apple put out a few months ago you would see that they are experimenting with other scroll options and this looks more like a scroll bar to me. Just some things that would be cool for the new ipod: bluetooth, wifi, camera, video, messaging, radio, and interchangeable scroll interfaces (touch screen would have to be present for that last one of course).
