iPod tube amplifier
I’m not sure if there’s any point in connecting an iPod to a serious tube amplifier system, but I would love to listen to it and find out if it’s as good as they say it is. The system will be available for $299 from mid-september. One more photo and press info inside.

iTPA-220 – A Classic Sound in the Digital Age
LAS VEGAS, Aug. 16 — Are you an audiophile? Do you love to listen to your iPod? The iTPA-220 is what you have been looking for! DICE Electronics is launching a high-end iPod tube amplifier system, the iTPA-220. The amplifier system will be available for a suggested retail price of $299 from mid-September.
The iPod tube amplifier system fills your home or office with true audiophile, rich and warm quality sound. Placed into the iPod docking tray, it charges the iPod allowing endless hours of listening to your favorite music. The amplifier system has an auxiliary input for additional audio devices such as a computer or any MP3 players. It also features a video output for use with the video iPods. Speakers feature a bass reflex port to increase bass response.
The unit comes with a remote control having volume control, mute, next/previous track, play and pause functions. The built in 2×20 Watt solid state amplifier, the 4″ mid/bass driver and the 1″ dome tweeter create a wide dynamic range for an enhanced music quality.
The dual 6N3 tubes in the preamplifier gives the listener the warmest sound and the clearest highs ever heard from an iPod docking station. The “warmth” and “richness” typically associated with “valve sound” comes from the presence of 2nd order distortion smoothing the output soundwave. The tube preamplifier creates a more natural sound as opposed to the often harsh, dry sound of digital audio. “In the world of MP3 players and digital music, you need the iTPA-220 to rediscover the natural sound that has been missing from our lives,” said Alfred Barabas, COO of DICE Electronics, LLC.
