I just got a press release letting us know that iTunes now has passed Wal-Mart on the list of the largest music retailers in the US. “The iTunes Store became the largest music retailer in the US based on the amount of music sold during January and February 2008.“. Pretty impressive: 50 million customers, 4 billion sold songs – in less than 5 years.

Dolby sound in your phone

Dolby sound in your phone

Dolby is about to launch an adaption of their Dolby headphone tecnhology called ‘Dolby Mobile’. It’s an application that runs in the background while you listen to music or catch a flick on your phone. Currently it’s Symbian only but that will most probably change.

When paired with a decent set of headphones, the Dolby signal processing is really amazing.

Stylish clock radio

Lexon jet clocks

The design of this Lexon clock radio is actually pretty simple, but there is something special about it that I really like! The price hasn’t been announced yet but a similiar product from Lexon has a price tag that reads $70. The unit will be available in either brushed anodized aluminum or gold finish.

Microsoft surface in your home 2011

Microsoft Surface

You probably remember Microsoft ultra cool new piece of hardware and software they call Microsoft Surface. They have been working with the product since 2001 and it looks like the Surface will be launched on a broader scale and at a reasonable price level in 2011. It sounds a bit far away if you would ask me and I hope we will get a decent product earlier than that (Apple, come on get a move on on this one!).

# Uses electricity
# Has a manual
# Something else
# Frakkin’ sweet remote

Firefox 3 Beta 5 – review

Firefox 3, soon to be launched

Today the Firefox crew released the final beta (next release will be the first release candidate) of the upcoming Firefox 3 browser and Percy Cabello over at Mozilla Links has put together a nice 4 page review of the latest release. The Beta 5 contains over 750 (!) fixes since the last version and it looks promising:

What is left? From a user perspective I would say almost nothing besides some retouches here and there to the user interface. Behind the scenes, however, work never ends: performance improvements, web standards compliance and edge cases are still being ironed.
