You really need to check out the ‘Face Transformer’, it’s a really, really cool Java-application, that will take a picture of your choice, and transform it. The results are very impressive, and you have about ten different templates to choose from. How would you look like 50% monkey / 50% yourself? Cool!
U.S. company Buffalo Technology has announced the new combined media extender / DVD-player PC-P3LWG/DVD (whoo, quite a lot of letters). It’s key features are the 802.11g wireless stream connection, which makes it stream content from a networked PC. It alson has a traditional wire network input, and a USB 2.0 interface front mounted. The list of supported video formats and file extensions are massive. Available in February for $349.
Well, it seems like Sony’s newest gaming device won’t be such a bargain as expected. Over at Amazon.co.uk, you could today read that the official launchdate for U.K. will be March the 18:th. So far so good, but the price will be a massive £179.99, which is around $340 USD, and indication of the pricing in the states.

The new units are based on Ethernet cables for transportation so I guess there’s quite a lot of work involved if you want to do a nice installation. Ed Felten at Princeton University has written a functional peer-to-peer file sharing application, with 15 lines of code – that’s right FIFTEEN lines. Quite amazing. It’s functionalities are of course quite limited, and is written to make a point of how hard it will be for any organization to stop file sharing.
Samsung DVD Jr is a Mini-DVD Player with a 2.5″ TFT LCD screen for playback of 3″ Mini DVD discs. It’s targeted for kids under 15 years. A partnership with Warner Brothers will secure the availability of hit titles like Harry Potter and Scooby-Doo on the 3″ DVD format. The player will be available in Q1 2005, and sell for $149.99. Mini DVD Discs from Warner Home Video range from MSRP $9.98 to $24.98.
Well it’s over 22 weeks(!) until the premiere of Star Wars: Episode Three, but Jeff Twieden from Seattle has already began his long queing for his tickets. He will be staying outside the Cinerama Theater in downtown Seattle, and be the first to buy the tickets for George Lucas new episode. Twiden says: “Star Wars is about independence and freedom,” Twieden says. “And that’s really what this wait is about. That complete and utter independence.”
Apple has put up a stream of the whole keynote Steve Jobs delivered at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco. It’s available in both Quicktime and Mpeg-4.
Weighing in at 30 grams (.78 of an ounce), with a battery limit of 12 hours, and a truly stylish design, the new iPod from Apple will most likely become a mega-hit. It’s already available, and comes in two flavours: 512 MB for $99 and 1GB for $149. It plugs in straight into your USB port, to charge the batteriy or upload new tunes.
