The QDOS Genesis is a new iPod dock sound system that is supposed to be able to produce a 360-degree soundfield. The QDOS Genesis is available now in the UK and France for £89.99 (around $170).

Apple Expo – September 12, 2006 – QDOS has today unveiled Genesis, an eye-catching high-performance portable sound system for the iPod® line*. Genesis is ideal for use indoors, outdoors or on-the-go and its cylindrical shape concertinas to fit neatly into a carry case providing protection and durability whilst travelling. QDOS is demonstrating Genesis on stand D75.

Genesis offers a four-way sound system comprising 4 x 3 watt speakers and produces a 360-degree soundfield. Available in black or white, the contemporary design of the unit is further enhanced by customisable skins. Measuring only 115mm in diameter and 85mm in height when closed and 125mm in height when open, Genesis is compact yet sturdy, weighing no more than 0.8kg.

Using four AA batteries, Genesis boasts up to eight hours continuous play for use outdoors and a DC adaptor for use indoors. Genesis also synchronises the iPod and recharges the iPod battery when docked and running on DC power. In addition, Genesis connects to other audio devices including PC, DVD, CD and other MP3 players.

Genesis is delivered in a tiered three-drawer box, which houses multi-country plugs, the interchangeable iPod connectors as well as the auxiliary and DC connectors. Supporting the Universal Dock Adaptor specification from Apple, Genesis will have the ‘Made for iPod’ certification.
